First entry

Hi, and welcome to my blog. This is the first entry so you really don't need to scroll back any further.

Ok, so my New Year's resolution at the start of the year was to see at the equivalent of at least one film a week in cinemas for the rest of the year. About halfway through this process, one of my workmates suggested I track the experience by actually, you know, writing down my thoughts on the films I've seen.

And I couldn't think of a reason why not to.

I'm not going to bother retrospectively reviewing the films I've already seen, so we're just going to have to start with film #32 - Salmon Fishing in the Yemen.

So the rules of my resolution are as follows.

- The film must be seen in a cinema to count. DVD rentals and Netflix are not considered part of the 52 films this year.
- Any film seen in a cinema counts. If I'm at a repertory and Jurassic Park is playing, it goes on the list.
- The goal is for the equivalent of a film a week - seeing two films in the one week and none the following week is all fine.
- There is not an upper limit. If I see more than 52 films this year then... awesome.

And some words of warning.

- I'm a terrible blogger. I'm lazy about updating and I ramble.
- I'm prone to changing my mind on a film if someone persuasive makes an argument I hadn't considered.
- I'm not hugely familiar with this technology. This blog is like to be incredibly ugly for a long time.
- It takes me a while to hit my straps. Assuming that I continue this idea in 2013, maybe that's when the content will have improved.

Until then, bear with me.
